Outland Story

Elton Goeman

Elton Goeman Elton Goeman epitomizes the saying that actions speak louder than words. He would rather show you the possibilities that the land can offer rather sit in a meeting to discuss a proposal. Elton watched the first wind towers go up on the land to the west of him, and he knew then that wind was in his future.

“My brother is my partner, and we constantly look for new opportunities and run ideas past each other,” Elton said. “We wanted to diversify our farming operations, and wind was the right mix for us.”

When Dennis Fultz proposed the idea regarding a joint, wind-farm operations, the brothers jumped at the opportunity. “It is all about relationships, and Dennis and Bernie Fultz are long-time friends,” said Elton. “Bernie, at 80 years old, is the eternal optimist and Dennis is very innovative; they are good people, the type of people you surround yourself with.”

Elton wants Outland to be about local ownership, as the money should stay in the community. He is also intensely aware of the necessity for continued economic growth in southwest Minnesota. As a board member of Outland, Elton is constantly on the lookout for more alternative energy possibilities.
