January 15, 2008 - Chaska, Minnesota Minnesota-based, Outland Renewable Energy, LLC (Outland) announced today the appointment of Brent Bergland as the director of engineering and construction. Bergland will oversee all aspects of construction to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget. He will also work with Outland’s leadership on project budgets as well as contractor negotiations and management. “Brent is a crucial hire for us as we head into a year of fast-paced growth and vertical integration,” said Steve Scott, chief operating officer at Outland. “Brent will play a key role as we move forward with our wind projects, our agreements with wind-turbine manufacturers, our recent grant from Xcel Energy, and our development of a privately funded transmission line. He also has critical experience working with a wide variety of wind turbine manufacturers such as Vestas, Siemens, GE, Clipper, and Mitsubishi. Bergland spent the last 13 years with Mortenson Construction where he possessed a strong record of progressive accomplishment, increasing responsibility, and proven results, specifically as they related to customer and partner relations and project planning. In his most recent position as the director of business development, Bergland led their market and customer strategic positioning for their wind-power engineering, procurement, and construction business. Prior to his seven years in the wind-power industry, Bergland worked in a variety of advanced construction positions for a number of Mortenson’s operating divisions throughout the United States. Bergland is a graduate of North Dakota State University and holds a bachelor of science in construction management and a minor in environmental design.
