Outland Renewable Energy Enters Into a Reservation Agreement for
200 Megawatts of Siemens Wind Turbines
December 19, 2007 - Chaska, Minnesota Minnesota-based Outland Renewable Energy, LLC announced today that it has signed a reservation agreement with Siemens Power Generation to supply 200 megawatts (MW) of Siemens’ 2.3 megawatt wind turbines. The turbines are for a greenfield project being developed by Outland in Iowa known as ORE 1 Wind Farm. The first phase of the project is expected to enter commercial operation in 2010. “Siemens turbines are among the best in the industry, meeting our goal to develop high-performance wind farms,” said Dan Rustowicz, Outland’s chief development officer. “We are pleased to begin our business relationship with Siemens as we continue to aggressively execute our development plan. We expect to utilize Siemens equipment in many of our projects as we move forward.” Rustowicz joined Outland earlier in 2007 from John Deere, where he led the agriculture equipment giant’s entry into the wind energy business in 2004. “Our goal is to establish mutually beneficial long-term relationships with all our partners as we aspire to be the developer of choice among landowners, co-developers, communities and investors. Siemens is a tremendous partner,” Rustowicz added. "Iowa is one of the leading states promoting wind energy, and we are pleased that Outland has chosen our 2.3MW wind turbines for their ORE 1 wind farm. Our strong product reputation and implementation record is one of our most important assets,” commented Randy Zwirn, president and CEO of Siemens Power Generation, Inc. and member of the PG group executive committee. “The growing energy demand in the U.S. requires a mix of diverse electricity generating solutions and this wind farm will contribute to Iowa’s clean energy needs. We look forward to working with Outland as they establish their presence in Iowa." Siemens is already doing business in Iowa where it opened a wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in September 2007. Outland is actively developing numerous projects in the central, south-central and eastern U.S. It has already begun to establish regional teams to execute on its current pipeline and grow its portfolio. Today, Outland has in excess of 6,000 megawatts in various stages of development and anticipates expansion into the western U.S. Outland is well positioned to handle this growth operationally with more than 30 technicians now operating and maintaining wind farms across the country.
